Violence

Mixing drugs and the emotionally volatile adolescent years makes a dangerous cocktail. Out of the drug culture emerged the culture of violence. Popes have called it the "Culture of Death." The Manson murders marked the beginning of killing just for the fun of it...killing by children. Increasingly realistic and graphic violence is being pumped into children's minds through video games, music and movies.

"There is a strong relationship between the use of drugs and violence," according to the National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center. Furthermore, "Teens that use drugs are also much more likely to attempt and die by suicide."

School violence like the tragedy in Littleton, Colorado and other acts of violence like bullying, fighting, and gang violence is of major concern. Research shows that kids who are involved with drugs are more likely to get in trouble with authorities or end up in jail.
